Your favourite way to enjoy an aēlo?

In a glass with lots of ice on my sunny deck - the margarita is my new favourite.

What does your ideal Saturday look like?

A slow start with matcha and playing with my son inside, then a family walk to the local farmer’s market to grab any vegetables that weren’t delivered in our weekly CSA, my spouse will probably go to Home Depot. I might sneak in a hike, my favourite way to move my body.

You’re inviting someone to share an aēlo with you, dead or alive, who is it?

My grandparents. I haven’t had any since the age of 12. Also, anyone that drinks alcohol a lot. We’ve had 2 breast cancer diagnoses in our family and there is a huge link with alcohol consumption. I want to spread the word that you can enjoy a refreshing good drink without the negative health impacts.

Your favourite piece of advice you keep coming back to?

As a nutritionist, it’s a nerdy answer.  Focus on eating more vegetables, fruit, grains and nuts and seeds. 16 years of research shows just switching 3% of protein from animals to plant sources leads to lower overall mortality. See the study here.

Something you’re feeling inspired by right now and how are you exploring it?

To be honest, it’s not drinking alcohol. I can count the number of times on one hand so far this year. I never thought I’d go down this route as we loved drinking, it became a routine to have a drink with dinner or on weekends. I was using it for stress relief and to decompress from work or from parenting. I’m really proud of my partner and I on this new journey.
